Owens seeks second term as Putnam County Treasurer

Putnam County Treasurer Sharon Owens has announced her campaign for re-election as county treasurer on the Republican ticket in the 2012 election.

Owens has been a resident of Putnam County for the past 26 years. She and her husband Mike have five children and two granddaughters.

Owens has been involved with many charitable organizations including Delta Theta Tau, Relay for Life, Greencastle Elks Lodge and Greencastle Kiwanis.

She is a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Putnam County Republican Women's Club, Greencastle Chamber of Commerce, Association of Indiana Counties and the Indiana Treasurer's Association.

Owens has served as Putnam County Treasurer the past three years and served as deputy treasurer for nine years prior to being elected County Treasurer.

Owens strives to make the treasurer's office courteous, helpful and informative to all taxpayers. Every year since becoming treasurer, Owens has provided on time billing.

"I am always searching for ways to provide convenience to the taxpayers of Putnam County while at the same time continuing to operate the treasurer's office cost efficiently," Owens said. "In doing so I have been able to reduce the treasurer's office operating budget every year since being elected county treasurer and I would like opportunity to serve as your Putnam County Treasurer for another four years. Let's make a difference together."

Owens will appear on the May 8 Republican primary ballot.
