City Council accepting school board applications

Thursday, April 26, 2012

The Greencastle City Council will make one of its two appointments to the Greencastle Community School Board of Trustees at the June meeting of the Council.

The four-year term in question, the seat currently filled by school board president Bruce Stinebrickner, will commence on July 1, 2012 and continue until June 30, 2016.

Stinebrickner said this week he is currently undecided about a second term as the City Council appointee. If he does wish to continue, he must make application the same as other interested parties.

Applications are available at City Hall, 1 N. Locust St., and also on the cityofgreencastle.com website. Completed applications will be accepted at City Hall until 5 p.m. Friday, May 18.

Candidate interviews with the City Council will be scheduled for either May 30 or 31. Those interested must reside within the city limits to be considered.

The seat is one of two representing the residents within the city limits on the appointed school board. Bill Tobin fills the other City of Greencastle appointment. Tobin was selected by the school board in February to replace Monica Fennell after her resignation.

Other members of the board include Mike Dean, appointed by Madison Township Advisory Board, and Kelly Lewis and Michael White, both appointed by the Greencastle Township Advisory Board.
