Sheriff's Department

On Wednesday, May 2 at 9:17 p.m. Shannon M. Robinson, 41, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 700 South in a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire. She said she was talking on the cell phone and saw the headlights of a pickup driven westbound by Brent D. Payne, 23, Cloverdale. She did not, however, notice the trailer Payne was pulling.

Payne said he had to slow down to around 25 mph and swerved into a ditch to avoid a collision, but Robinson hit the first axle of the trailer, breaking off a wheel.

Robinson said she did not believe she was left of center, but admitted to being on the phone at the time.

Damage $2,501-$5,000.
