Three punch ticket to IHSAA state meet

All four Putnam County schools sent representatives to the IHSAA Regional Track and Field meet at Evansville Central High School Thursday night.

Three participants will be competing in the IHSAA State Finals next Saturday at IU, two of whom competed in the same event.

Cloverdale's Joe Rumley won the 800-meter run to qualify for the state meet in a time of 1:55.35. Wade Warren finished with a time of 16.90 in the 110-meter hurdles, while Alex Law recorded a time of 25.45 in the 200-meter dash.

The 400-meter relay team of Law, Warren, David Rexroat and Bret Brumfield finished with a time of 45.21. The 1,600-meter relay team of Brumfield, Rumley, Devon Nees and Jourdan Smith added a time of 3:41.37.

Greencastle's Tyler Hudson also qualified for the state meet in the 800-meter run, placing third with a time of 1:59.12.

Hayden Stuckwisch placed fifth in the high jump with a leap of 6-4 while jumping 18-2.5 in the long jump. Stuckwisch's high jump was good enough to qualify for the state meet.

The 400-meter relay team of Stuckwisch, Mac Shuee, Chad Keyt and Nate Haynes with a time of 45.79. Taylor Secrest finished 10th in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:46.09.

Ryan Stevens also placed 10th in 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:18.12. The 3,200-meter relay team of Stevens, Hudson, Nathan Eubank and Elijah Brattain finished with a time of 8:46.27

South Putnam's Ryan Chestnut finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 51-6, narrowly edged out by Lee Davis of Terre Haute North. Wes Riner ran an 11.98 time in the 100 meter dash, missing the finals by .05 seconds.

North Putnam's Tyler Shorter finished 6th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.81 seconds. Hunter Logan finished 7th in the discus with a throw 146-6.5.

Rumley, Hudson and Stuckwisch will compete at the IHSAA State Track Meet on June 2 at Indiana University's Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex.
