Edsel Sparks

Edsel Sparks, 54, Greencastle, passed on Wednesday, June 6, 2012. He died with his family around him at his Van Bibber Lake home following a long battle with cancer.

He was born on May 30, 1958 in Indianapolis, the son of Elbert Leroy and Delores May (Acton) Sparks.

Ed was a graduate of Cascade High School and later earned a degree in electronics from ITT Technical Institute. He served his country as a U.S. Marine.

Ed installed satellites and did construction work. He loved fishing and working on computers, as well as spending time with his family, friends and community.

He was a member of Clinton Falls Community Church. His favorite scripture was Revelation 21:4: "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

Ed is survived by his wife Vanessa; brothers David Sparks and wife Dennise, Karl Sparks and wife Bonnie and Alan Sparks and wife Judy; children Derek Sparks and fiancée Rachel, Steven Sparks, Stacy Shrout and husband Geoff, Emily Adkins and husband Michael, Donnie Smith and wife Lori and Michelle Whitbeck; and grandchildren Jerod, Jaydon, Lukas, Alexis and Dustin.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elbert and Delores Sparks; brothers Leon, Wayne and Mark Sparks; and granddaughter Avery Gene Shrout and an infant grandchild.

Services will be at the Clinton Falls Community Church from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, June 9.
