McHard Hat Zone

Wednesday, June 20, 2012
With construction work continuing on the remodeling and expansion of the Greencastle McDonald's at Indianapolis Road and Percy Julian Drive, the drive-through became a drive-around Tuesday. With CFH Contractors of Knightstown moving to the east side of the building to continue their efforts, that necessitated shifting the drive-through line away from the building for safety reasons. Hard hat-wearing construction workers even passed money back and forth behind cars and cashiers during the morning, while helmeted McDonald's employees carried orders from the window to vehicles in line. McDonald's officials expect the expansion project -- which includes increasing the size of the parking area to the west and the dining room to the north -- to be completed by Aug. 3.

  • Why more parking? Seems to me the drive thru is used more. Hate drive thru's, Seems to much like Traffic on 465, but then again it's like crossing a busy street just to get to the door.

    Hope this helps.

  • I can definitely understand the need for a larger dining area and maybe more parking.....BUT DID IT NOT OCCUR TO ANYONE THAT THEY NEED A PLAYLAND AREA FOR THE KIDS??????????????? The McDonald's in Plainfield has a huge area for the kids so parents can enjoy their meal and keep watch on the kids playing. Cloverdale McDonald's even tore the old one down and still didn't build a playland area....what does it take for Putnam County to realize they are still way behind the times....duh!

  • when mcdonalds was across from Krogers they had a play area and took it out because to many kids were getting hurt on it. plus we need more space for people to sit down and eat. A play area also makes more work for the crew and managers. Also we are making our parking lot bigger on that one side so people are not being blocked in by drive thru. I can't tell you how many times Ive been almost hit trying to back out because people are to busy trying to push themselves past me to get in line.
