Carol Unger Smith, 75, of New Albany, Mississippi and formally of Lebanon, Ind., passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County.

She was born on July 15, 1936 in Randolph County in Young America, Ind., to the late Russell and Louise Unger.

She was retired from Enlisted Records and Evaluation Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison.

Her hobbies included needlecraft and gardening.

Survivors include her husband, Terry W. Smith, New Albany, Mississippi; four children, Jeff Hopkins and wife Kathy, Indianapolis, Hopkins and wife Susan, New Palestine, Garnet Jordan and husband Clyde, Centerpoint, Gregory Hopkins and wife Candy, Indianapolis; stepdaughter, Stephanie Cronin and husband Marc, Dothan, Ala; a brother, James Unger and wife Sharon, Sedalia; a sister, Rebecca Mullen and husband Don, Walton, Ind.;

11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margaret Bennett; a brother, William Unger; and a daughter, Cynthia Hopkins Crow.

Funeral services are planned for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 3 at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, with Rev. Richard Burdett, officiating.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 2 at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon.

Interment will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery in Sharon, Ind.
