David C. Moore, 83, Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Greencastle, passed away on July 1, 2012 at his residence.

He was born on Feb. 28, 1929 in Greencastle, and was the son of the late William Evert "Skinny" Moore and Anna Christina (Kendall) Moore.

He married Tazuko "Marie" (Shibasaki}) Moore on Feb. 18, 1951, and she preceded him in death on June 24, 2000.

He was an insurance claims representative, member of St. Rafael Catholic Church, Kansas City, Mo., Central Indiana Insurance Adjusters Association and was a graduate of Greencastle High School and Indiana University and attended Indiana University School of Law.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving in the 440th Signal Aviation Battalion and receiving the Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service Metal with three Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal with Japan clasp and the United Nations Service Medal.

He is survived by his children, Christine Moore, Overland Park, Kan., and Paul Moore, Kansas City, Mo.; his sister, Helen Sutherlin, Greencastle, grandchildren Nicholas LaBruzzo, Kelly LaBruzzo, Cory Moore, Heather Moore, Andrea Murphy and Joshua Lansdale; and great-grandchild, Aleasha Murphy.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 6 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be on Friday, July 6 from 11 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery with military honors.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Mildred Butts, Mary Blumer, Margaret Reid and Ruth Moore, and brothers Willis Eugene "Gene" Moore, William Leland "Pete" Moore and Lloyd Ivan "John" Moore.
