County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail in recent days.

* On Tuesday, July 3 at 9:25 a.m., Eric Brian Johnson, 28, Coatesville, checked in as a weekender.

At 11:15 Timothy Vern Giles, 38, homeless, was charged with robbery with a firearm and theft.

At 7:00 p.m. Jason Lee Neace, 32, Indianapolis, was charged with burglary.

At 7:15 p.m. Renae Susanne Adams, 34, Avon, was arrested for nonsupport of a dependent.

* On Wednesday, July 4 at 3:30 a.m., James Lance Weaver, 44, Coatesville, was charged with criminal recklessness, resisting law enforcement and obstruction of justice.

At 4:00 a.m. Paul Reed Wittig, 45, Coatesville, was charged with failure to identify himself, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and other offenses.

At 3:30 p.m. Harold Dean Doane, 51, Greencastle, was arrested for domestic battery.

At 3:50 p.m. Brian Eugene Taskey, 29, Cloverdale, was booked on a court order.

At 7:30 p.m. Drew Robert Hess, 24, Brownsburg, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

Sheriff's Department

On Monday, July 2 at 1:35 p.m. Harold L. Keck, 66, Bainbridge, was northbound on U.S. 231 in his 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 when he failed to spot the car ahead of him, a 1990 Ford F800 driven by Garry L. Gohring, 66, Roachdale, stopped waiting for another car to turn onto County Road 500 North.

Keck hit the rear of Gohring's vehicle.

Damage was listed at $2,501-$5,000.

City Police

A 21-year-old Greencastle man was lodged in the Putnam County Jail late Wednesday following an incident in the parking lot of Buffalo Wild Wings at Indianapolis Road and 10th Street.

Corey J. Crowder was arrested by Capt. Charles Inman following the 9:48 p.m. incident, police reported. Crowder was lodged in the jail at 11:58 p.m. on charges of battery, disorderly conduct/disturbing the peace and criminal mischief.

City Police reports indicate the incident began with obscene hand gestures and angry words as Crowder got into an altercation with an off-duty deputy town marshal.

The altercation escalated, resulting in a window on the passenger's side of the officer's private vehicle being broken out.

The police report made available by GPD did not indicate whether either man sustained physical injuries.
