County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* On Saturday, July 7 at 7:58 p.m. John James Bania, 48, Fillmore, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and resisting law enforcement.

* On Sunday, July 8 at 12:45 a.m. Heather Sumner, 37, Coatesville, was lodged at the jail for driving with a suspended license.

At 2 a.m. Travis Lee Slater, 31, Cloverdale, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

At 5:02 a.m. Charles William McCarty, 37, Bainbridge, was held at the jail for possession of precursors.

* On Tuesday, July 10 at 3:40 a.m. Gregory Lewis Nauman II, 29, Indianapolis, was booked in for operating while intoxicated, public intoxication, reckless driving and false informing.

City Police

Six recent traffic citations were issued by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, Tom Dloniak, 48, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for 50 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street, south of Veterans Highway.

-- At 12:48 a.m. Tuesday, James Evans, 28, Greencastle, was cited on Fillmore Road by Officer Eric Vaughan for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

-- At 3 a.m. Monday, Peter Finn, 58, Bloomington, was cited by Officer Eastham for 50 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street, south of Veterans Highway.

-- At 1:25 a.m. Monday, Seth Cooper, 30, Madison, Wis., was cited by Officer Eastham for 52 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street, south of Veterans Highway.

-- At 10 p.m. July 4, Dalton Kastigar, 18, Greencastle, received a pair of citations from Officer Matt Huffman. Kastigar was ticketed at Bloomington and Maple streets for unreasonable speed and disregarding a traffic control device or flagman in the post-fireworks traffic.

Sheriff's Department

At some time after midnight on Saturday, July 7, Ryan N. Carel, 20, Roachdale, was westbound on County Road 350 North in a 2004 Chevrolet Impala.

As he approached a 90-degree turn to the right, Carel lost control of the vehicle. The car missed the corner, left the road and went through a yard, where it hit a 1997 Ford F350 owned by Jeffrey and Joni Shelton.

Carel said he was not able to find a phone after the accident. Deputy Matt Biggs was notified around 3 a.m., at which time he met with Carel at an apartment complex in Greencastle.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.
