H. Fern Porter

H. Fern Porter, 91, Elnora, Ind., passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Emerald House Assisted Living.

She was born Nov. 11, 1920 in Shiloh, Ind., the daughter of Herschal Ray and Lois (Grover) Byrer.

She married John W. Porter on Dec. 10, 1938, and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Porter was a homemaker and had worked at NAD Crane and Sarkes Tarzian plant in Bloomington.

Survivors include her daughter Connie Dee (Robert) Huber of Greencastle, son John W. "Bill" (Judy) Porter of Elnora and brother Irven Rex Byrer of Odon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Gerald Ray "Gary" Byrer and brother Harold Byrer.

A graveside service took place on Wednesday, July 18 at Walnut Hill Cemetery with Bro. Richard Smith officiating.

Poindexter-Hall & McClure Funeral Home, Odon, handled the arrangements.
