McCloud hosts pair of July 21 events

Thursday, July 19, 2012

McCloud Nature Park will host an hour-long presentation on turtles at 2 p.m. and an evening campfire at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 21.

The free turtle presentation is designed to be kid-friendly and will be conducted by a McCloud naturalist, who will describe the unique adaptations that allow turtles to survive.

After the lesson, kids will make a turtle craft to take home.

Guests are then invited to hike to the pond or creek to find turtles in the wild.

The campfire will feature storytelling while guests cook s'mores over an open fire. Reservations are required and the event will last an hour and a half.

Call Hendricks County Parks and Recreation at (317) 718-6188 to reserve a spot.

McCloud is located at 8518 North Hughes Rd. Admission is always free and the park is open from dawn to dusk daily.

  • They must have had a lot more rain in Hendricks County than in Putnam County to be allowed to have an open campfire. I pray for safety and wisdom for all concerned!
