A 30-year-old Greencastle man is facing theft charges after an alleged purse-snatching incident Thursday morning in the Kroger parking lot on Indianapolis Road.

Christopher Michael Faught was lodged in the Putnam County Jail at 11 a.m. after he was apprehended by Det. Michael Collins on County Road 350 North.

The incident was reported at 10 a.m. as Dorothy Bumgardner was loading her groceries into the back of her car as Faught reportedly drove past and snatched the purse from her shopping cart, Officer Albert Epple reported.

The victim and another witness provided a good description of the suspect vehicle, police said, and Det. Collins pulled Faught over and retraced his path of travel to recover the woman's purse and billfold he reportedly threw out of the window of his vehicle.

Police also recovered cash and prescription drugs that belong to the victim.
