The trust commemorating one of Speedway's founding police commissioners has announced the award of its current year education/community service grants. This year the foundation made awards to a total of four recipients, including one from Putnam County.

MADISON MARSTELLER of Clayton, is working toward a degree in veterinary medicine at Purdue University. During her years at South Putnam High School, Madison served on the P.I.E. Board and worked with Teen Court and S.A.D.D.

Grants are available for any educational opportunity to adults or youth with a relationship to the Speedway Police Department. Tax-deductible donations may be made to the Merrill S. Lawler Foundation, 838 Woodlyn Dr. South, Cincinnati, OH 45230.

YVONNE DOWNEN is a new member of Kappa Delta Phi sorority.

She joins other members of Kappa Delta Phi as they direct their philanthropic efforts toward the benefit of Putnam County children.

Chapter members honored Yvonne at a dinner at the Putnam Inn prior to her recent initiation at the home of Linda Freeman.
