Cougar volleyball wins in five sets against Rockville

ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam volleyball team defeated Rockville in five sets Thursday 25-14, 25-27, 25-22, 21-25 and 15-13.

Kelsey Reed had 16 points for the Cougars, with Bethany Wiatt had 14 points. Samantha Lucas led the team with 11 kills, while Taylor Nauert added eight kills. Wiatt had nine digs and Shay Lucas contributed five digs.

"The girls came out strong," North Putnam head coach Jill Schreiber said.

Schreiber said her team came out too relaxed in the second game, but deciding to play again in the third game. In the fourth set, the Cougars were down 17-9 before storming back and dropping the game 25-21.

"They had the desire and some confidence," she said. "It was nice watching them realize they are a good team and can win! They have the talent just knowing how to put it all together.They did that tonight and I'm proud of their hard work," Schreiber said.
