THORNTOWN -- The North Putnam girls' golf team closed its regular season on the road against Western Boone Tuesday. The Cougars lost the contest 189-216, but received a nice surprise in the process.

Jessie Cox posted her lowest round of the year to lead North Putnam Tuesday with a round of 50. Josie Parent struggled on the greens and recorded a round of 52 for the Cougars.

Ellen Wilborn shot a 55, with Emmy Rees shooting a 59. Olivia Zarate rounded out the scoring with a round of 65.

"The course itself was in good condition with a few days of drying, helping to get better strikes on the ball," North Putnam head coach Linda Patrick said. "But the greens were playing exceptionally fast."

North Putnam will compete in the Putnam County tournament tonight at 4:30 p.m.
