Charles D. 'Charlie' Richard
Charles D. "Charlie" Richard, 86, lifelong resident of Clayton, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012.
Charlie was born May 9, 1926 to Bryan and Olga (McMorris) Richard.
He married Marguerite "Maggie" (Cain) Bassett who preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 2010.
Charlie was a commercial truck driver for Skinner Motor Express in Indianapolis for 20 years. He was also a driver for Speedway Auto Parts for 10 years. He owned C.M. Cycle Shop in Clayton from 1986 until he retired in 2006.
He attended the Hazelwood Christian Church and the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Hall, Ind.
Survivors include his children, Patricia (William) Gilbert of Rosedale, Rick Richard of Westminster, Md., and Phyllis Bucklew of Terre Haute; stepchildren Mike (Pam) Bassett of Plainfield, Stan (Jan) Bassett of Plainfield, Frank (Marcella) Bassett of Plainfield, Marcia (Paul) Lowe of Hazelwood, Sandy (Jim) Simons of Mt. Airy, Md., Vickie (Jay) Allgood of Waveland and Pam Custis of Clayton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Bennett of Indianapolis.
Funeral service is set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home, Clayton, with visitation at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Clayton Cemetery.
