MITCHELL -- South Putnam improved to 5-2 on the season with a dominant victory over the Mitchell Bluejackets, winning 62-0 on Friday.

Tailback Lucas Lorian ran for 150 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns.

Quarterback Sawyer Arnold finished seven for 10 passing with 124 yards and four touchdowns.

"We had a great night offensively, doing a lot of great things," South Putnam head coach Troy Burgess said. "Defensively we played extremely well. The big guys up front did a great job and the linebackers just did a very nice job defensively."

SPHS held Mitchell to negative rush yards and only 54 passing yards in the shutout victory, allowing only four first downs.

"I'm really proud of the way they played," Burgess said. "We got a fast start and just continued to play well."

The Eagles will wrap up their home schedule next week, hosting Monrovia in their homecoming game.

Monrovia defeated North Putnam 42-20 on Friday and now sit at 3-4 on the season.

"We'll have our hands full Friday, I know that," Burgess said. "We'll enjoy this one for a short period of time and then get ready to go back to work."
