4-H Horse & Pony Club gives annual awards to members

The Putnam County 4-H Horse & Pony Club recently conducted its Awards Celebration at the Putnam County Fairgrounds.

The celebration is an annual opportunity to highlight many Achievement Awards within the club for the past year and to get moving on the upcoming show season.

The following 4-H members were honored:

-- 2012 Rookie of the Year (award founded by Gerald and Dorothy Edwards to recognize the achievements of a first-year Horse & Pony member): Ryan Phillips.

-- 2012 Sportsman Awards (award founded by David and My Gilley to recognize the sportsmanship, participation and leadership of Horse & Pony members): 2012 Jr. Sportsman, Bree Mahoney-Sutherland; 2012 Intermediate Sportsman, Angelina Becker; and 2012 Sr. Sportsman, Emily Gilley.

High Point awards were also given during the evening for those competing during the 2012 Fair Week in Gaming and Performance Classes.

-- High Point Contesting Horse Jr. Exhibitor: Ethan Winings.

-- High Point Performance Horse Sr. Exhibitor: Jenna Greeson.

-- High Point Performance Horse Jr. Exhibitor: Whitney Boswell.
