City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department went on several runs recently.

* On Saturday, Oct. 13 at 2:46 p.m. crews went to 22 N. College Ave. for an odor investigation. They returned to station at 3:38 p.m.

At 8:14 p.m. they were dispatched to 800 S. College Ave. for an alarm. They were in service at 8:30 p.m.

* On Sunday, Oct. 14 at 12:26 a.m. firefighters were sent to 9 E. Jacob St. for a lift assist. They returned at 12:36 a.m.

At 9:48 a.m. crews were sent to the corner of Franklin and Jackson streets to assist police with a collapsed façade that resulted from strong winds. They returned to the station at 10:18 a.m.

At 10:35 a.m. they went to the corner of Gillespie and Franklin streets for a downed tree. They returned to the station at 10:45 a.m.

The strong wind caused other problems. The department responded to five separate calls for downed power lines: 12:23 p.m. at 719 E. Seminary; 1:11 p.m. at Tennessee Street; 1:42 p.m. at 88 E. CR 300 South; 2:49 p.m. at 106 Spring St.; and 6:22 p.m. at Albin Pond Road.

At 6:44 p.m. crews went to 508 S. Illinois St. for a medical assist. They were in service at 7:15 p.m.

At 6:57 p.m. firefighters responded to an alarm at 296 W. CR 225 South. They returned to the station at 7:11 p.m.

* On Monday, Oct 15 at 3:03 a.m. they were dispatched to 508 S. Illinois St. for a lift assist. They were in service at 3:19 a.m.

At 9:58 a.m. crews went to 1038 Castlebury Drive for a lift assist. They returned at 10:09 a.m.
