Candidates Forum on tap Wednesday at Watson Forum
A Candidates Forum for the Putnam County community, co-sponsored by the Greencastle League of Women Voters, WGRE radio and the Banner Graphic, is slated for Wednesday, Oct. 24.
The forum will begin at 7 p.m. at Watson Forum in the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media on the DePauw University campus (corner of Locust and Elm streets).
The event also will be broadcast live on WGRE radio (91.5 FM) and on Greencastle's local cable access Channel 3.
The forum will feature candidates running for the Indiana State Legislature and for Putnam County Commissioner, District 1.
State candidates planning to attend the forum are Democrat Charles Bender and incumbent Republican Pete Miller, opponents in State Senate District 24; Democrat Jim Cahill and Republican Rodric Bray, running for the open seat in State Senate District 37; and Democrat Richard Thompson, running for State House, District 44.
Putnam County Commissioner District 1 candidates who have said they plan to be in attendance at Wednesday's debate are Democrat candidate Jeffrey Blaydes and independent Charlie Boller.
Panelists for the evening will be Beth Newton Watson of the Greencastle League of Women Voters, Ariella Ford of WGRE and Banner Graphic assistant editor Jared Jernagan.
Serving as moderator for the debate will be Kate Hendrickson of WGRE.
At the conclusion of the forum, audience members will be allowed to ask questions of the candidates.
Refreshments will be served.
