Veterans Day

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Members of the Honor Guard from Greencastle VFW Post 1550 and American Legion Post 58 conduct the annual Veterans Day ceremony Sunday morning on the courthouse square. The ceremony culminates with a traditional 21-gun salute (three volleys from seven rifles).

Following the program, Veterans Day ceremony emcee Buck Martin (left) takes a few minutes to chat with local veterans Del Brewer, a former Marine, and State Rep. Jim Baird, an Army Vietnam veteran, about their experiences.

  • I went to this event on Veterans day and was very dissappointed that Buck Martin, the speaker, went on and on about the VFW, but did not mention his brothers at the American Legion. Perhaps someone who is not so biased should do the speaking next year. A veteran is a veteran none the less whether he has been over seas.
