Wanda Mae Hamm

Wanda Mae Hamm, 83, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012.

Born April 17, 1929 in Fairbury, Ill., she was the daughter of Ora James and Anna Marie (Weisser) Perkins.

She was a 1947 graduate of Chatsworth (Ill.) High School. She was a 1948 graduate of the University of Bloomington Beauty College.

She married James A. Hamm, and he preceded her in death.

Wanda had been a beautician and a homemaker.

She had also worked at the DePauw University Student Union, and as a nurses' aide at Sunset Manor Nursing Home.

She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post 58, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chatsworth, Ill., and TOPS Club No. 609.

Survivors include her children, Karen (Doyle) Pelfrey of Greencastle and Jon (Susan Barry) Hamm of Miami Beach, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Andrea Myers of Terre Haute; a sister, Lucille Sterrenberg of Fairbury, Ill.; six grandchildren, Lonnie (Angela) Pelfrey, Troy (Candice) Pelfrey, Marlena (Matt) Emenhiser, Andrew James (Nicole) Hamm, Matthew Barry and Alex Hamm; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister and three brothers.

Graveside services will be conducted at noon Tuesday, Nov. 27 at Prairie Township Chapel Cemetery in Scottland, Ill., with Pastor Donnie Watson officiating. Interment will follow.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
