The Putnam County Public Library will welcome Jennifer Complo McNutt, curator at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, Indianapolis, who will give a Brown Bag presentation at noon Thursday, Nov. 29.

The program on issues surrounding contemporary Native American art was rescheduled from last summer.

Her appearance at PCPL is free and open to the public. The library is located at 103 E. Poplar St., Greencastle.

McNutt has a master's of fine art in painting from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, and joined the Eiteljorg Museum staff in 1991.

She is responsible for the Eiteljorg Fellowship for Native American Fine Art that provides support and national visibility for Native American artists.

The fellowship is a $20,000 award given to five selected artist fellows whose work is then featured in the biennial Eiteljorg Fellowship Exhibition in January.

The mission of the fellowship program is to confront misperceptions and prove that native culture is alive and dynamic today -- beyond romanticized or conventional views of traditional native art forms -- and to dissolve the distinction between Native American and contemporary artists.
