Christmas in Roachdale to feature carriage rides, Santa and more Friday

ROACHDALE -- The Town of Roachdale and its merchants will welcome Santa Claus and the Christmas season this Friday, Dec. 7.

"Christmas in Roachdale," presented by sponsoring town merchants, is scheduled 5-8 p.m. Friday with a variety of activities planned.

Many of the stores in town will be staying open and offering free holiday goodies, along with chances to register for prizes and free gifts.

Free carriage rides will be available throughout the evening, while Santa is scheduled to arrive at 6 p.m. at the Roachdale VFW Post.

The North Putnam High School Choir will entertain, moving around the town and singing from about 5:30 p.m. on.

Meanwhile, for the first time this year, an art show, featuring the handiwork of Roachdale Elementary School students, will be unveiled at the Roachdale Fire Station.

Spear Corp. of Roachdale is sponsoring prizes for the art show with first, second and third place in each grade scheduled to receive prizes.

Some of the Roachdale shops and what they are offering on Friday evening are: Riggle's Roachdale Hardware, free pop and peanuts; Kara's Country Cottage, free cookies; Roachdale Library, punch and cookies; Shabby & Sheek Spa, refreshments; Roachdale Razors-R-Us, half-priced haircuts 5-8 p.m.; and Hoosier Heartland State Bank, free hotdogs, chips, pop and hot chocolate.
