Hundreds showed up to the Putnam County Courthouse to enjoy the 28th Annual "Lights of Love" ceremony, presented by the Greencastle Civic League, where choirs from Tzouanakis Intermediate School, Greencastle Middle School, Greencastle High School and the DePauw University Chamber Singers provided Christmas carols as local students read their winning essays for the 2012 contest, "How can you make Greencastle a brighter place?"

Essay winner Maddie Landry got an early Christmas surprise this year by being chosen to help Santa Claus light up the town Christmas tree and luminarias.
