Greencastle girls' JV wins again, improves to 7-1

CLOVERDALE -- The Greencastle girls' junior varsity basketball team moved to 7-1 with a 25-13 win over Cloverdale on Thursday.

Lauren Bridgewater and Sydney Smiley each scored six points to lead the team.

Cloverdale was led in scoring by Taylor Clark's game-high seven points. Clark played only in the third quarter.

The Tiger Cubs are 2-1 in their last three games. After starting the season with five straight wins, the team finally lost at Edgewood on Saturday, Dec. 1.

Madison Trout had a team-high six points in the loss, but the squad was doomed by its 20 turnovers.

Smiley added five, followed by Bridgewater and Tera Amis with four.

On Tuesday GHS beat Danville in overtime.

Bridgewater's six points led the team, but she was helped by four points each from Trout, Amis, Smiley and Alison White.

White's go-ahead free throw in overtime proved to be the game winner.

The team returns to action on Saturday when they again face Cloverdale, this time in the 2012 JV tournament at 9 a.m.
