Max Lee Watts Sr.

Max Lee Watts Sr., 78 of Mattoon, Ill., passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at 8:11 a.m. at the Odd Fellow Rebekah Home.

Born June 1, 1934 in Montezuma, Ind., he was one of 11 children born to Virgil and Mable (Myers) Watts.

He is survived by his children, Max L. Watts Jr.(Marty) of Greencastle, Diana Hazlett (Jim) of Rockville, Carol Millsap (Greg) of Shelbyville, Ill., David Watts (Shawn) of Cloverdale, Billy Watts (Chere) of Muncie, Erica Howell of Cisco, Ill., and Terra Ashley of Mt. Zion, Ill.; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by four brothers, Leroy Watts of Tuscola, Ill., Joe Watts of Montezuma, Dick Watts of Montezuma, and Gary Watts of Hillsdale; six sisters, Dorothy Snodgrass of Middletown, Doris Taylor of Clinton, Mary Bettle of Cedar Lake, Margaret Martin of Universal, Brenda Clouser of Hudson, Fla., and Nancy Helms of Terre Haute, along with close friends Christina and Kevin Perry of Mattoon, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, Mattoon, Ill., is assisting the family with arrangements.
