County Jail

Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* On Friday, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. Richard Shane Ruble, 36, Laurel, Ind., was booked in for nonsupport of a dependent and probation violation.

At 10:04 p.m. Robert Earl Baker, 50, Reelsville, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

City Police

Three recent traffic accidents were investigated by Greencastle City Police officers, including a hit-and-run mishap occurring on Seminary Street.

The hit-and-run accident occurred sometime last Thursday or Friday as a 2002 Saturn, owned by Carl Huffman, Greencastle, was parked along the street.

The parked car was sideswiped, resulting in an estimated $1,000 damage to the driver's side front door, a rear door and side mirror, Officer Darrel Bunten reported.

The suspect vehicle will likely have damage to its passenger side as well as silver paint transfer.

-- At 9:58 a.m. Sunday, a two-vehicle accident was reported at Walnut and Locust streets.

Officer Albert Epple reported that Samuel Ballou, 30, San Diego, was eastbound on Walnut Street, driving a 2012 Ford Explorer owned by Linda Ballou, Reelsville.

Ballou had stopped at Walnut and Locust but pulled out in front of a northbound 2001 Dodge Neon, driven by Catherine Siebrase, 55, Greencastle.

Ballou told Officer Epple that when he did not see oncoming headlights, he thought the Siebrase car was parked on Locust Street when he pulled away from the stopsign.

Total damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

-- At 2 p.m. Friday, a two-vehicle collision occurred at Indianapolis Road and Fifth Street.

Justin Miller, 21, Greencastle, was eastbound on Indianapolis Road, driving a 1997 Jeep Wrangler, when traffic ahead of him stopped.

As Miller braked, his Jeep slid on wet pavement, striking the rear of a stopped 1999 Isuzu Rodeo, driven by Charles R. Barron, 52, Greencastle.

Office Epple estimated total damage at $1,000-$2,500.

Sheriff's Department

* On Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 6:10 p.m. Angela K. Bridgewater, 45, Terre Haute, was eastbound on U.S. 36 approaching County Road 675 East in a 2002 Toyota. Brooke K. Mullis, 23, Bainbridge, was also eastbound, following Bridgewater in a 2009 Mitsubishi.

Bridgewater turned on her turn signal and began to slow for the turn. Mullis saw the signal but could not get stopped in time, hitting the Bridgewater vehicle in the rear end.

Deputy T.J. Smith estimated total damage at $2,501-$5,000.
