James R. Sparks Sr., 76, Plainfield, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 in Hendricks Regional Health, Danville.

Born on Sept. 10, 1936 in Owensboro, Ky., he was the son of Carl and Hazel Henning Sparks.

He married Donelda Terry on Aug. 29, 1981.

James was a driver for Roland's Golden Memories Retirement Club for 10 years. Previously he was a truck driver for Koger Inc. and Neier Trucking Company. He also had the honor of serving as a fireman and a police officer in Greencastle.

Survivors include his wife Donelda Sparks; children Tony (Kathy) Sparks, Debbie (Mark) Hancock, Vangie Lawson and Chris (Kerri) Sparks; grandchildren Amy, Danielle, Marley, Kaileigh, Beau, Norman, Candi and Wendi; great-grandchildren Keegan, Harley, Desirae and Hunter; and three brothers and their wives.

His parents, son James Sparks Jr. and brother Tommy Sparks preceded him in death.

Calling will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Following interment a memorial gathering will be held at 11:30 a.m. in Roland's Golden Memories, 855 Southfield Dr., Plainfield.
