Richard F. "Doc" Wilson, age 90, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013.

Doc was living in Mechanicsburg, Pa., with his daughter, Martha and son-in-law, Donald Sutherlen.

Doc was born on Aug. 5, 1922 in Bainbridge, the son of the late Thomas Freeman and Lillie May (Staggs) Wilson. He lived in Bainbridge and attended Bainbridge High School.

In 1943 he married Lema (Waddle) Wilson, and they were married for almost 65 years, until her death in April 2008.

Doc first worked at the Zinc Mill and then retired in 1985 from the IBM Corp.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the VFW and American Legion, both in Greencastle.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in his garden.

Surviving in addition to his daughter and son-in-law are three grandchildren, Lesley Groff and husband Randy, Nathan Sutherlen and wife Rebecca, and Aaron Sutherlen; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Brandon, Ethan and Madeline; as well as a brother, Claude Wilson, and his wife Geneva.

Doc was preceded in death by his siblings, Margaret and Edgar.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday, Feb. 1 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial will take place at Bainbridge Cemetery.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.
