Area 7 Nutrition Site to close temporarily in Putnam County

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

At the beginning of February, the nutrition site for congregate and home-delivered meals provided by Area 7 Agency on Aging and Disabled/WCIEDD Inc. will move from the Putnam County Senior Center at its request.

The agency is currently looking for a new location to serve the nutrition needs of senior citizens and disabled adults of Putnam County.

Homebound clients in Putnam County who are currently receiving home-delivered meals will continue to receive those meals. During the interim, they will be picked up and delivered from another location.

"We wish the Putnam County Senior Center the best of luck in their efforts to continue to serve the needs and interests of senior citizens in Greencastle and Putnam County," Area 7 officials said. "Area 7 will continue to assist the Center in those efforts when possible."

Anyone interested in hosting the Area 7 Nutrition Site in Putnam County or who has a suggestion of someone who might, is asked to call Gloria Wetnight at (812) 238-1561 ext. 240 or send her an email message at gwetnight@westcentralin.com.

An Area 7 Nutrition Site includes space for the equipment used to provide the meals (i.e., freezers, re-therm unit, refrigerator, supplies storage cabinet) and a dining room for congregate participants.

  • Are they moving at the request of Area 7 or at the request of the Senior Center?

  • What's the story behind the story?

  • Please read the end of the first paragraph again. It says the Senior Center requested that they move.
