Patriots: Speaking up for liberty
To the Editor:
Time for boots on the ground. It's safe to say we can add another to the list of supporters in nullifying ObamaCare.
As Indiana Senate President David Long continues to personally block discussion, Sen. Johnny Nugent, District 43, responds to a letter (paraphrasing) urging that the federal government has overstepped its constitutional limits, and the states can put an end to the federal government takeover of our healthcare system and other unconstitutional federal initiatives. With so many states fighting back against ObamaCare, it should send a clear message to the Obama administration and yourself. We, the people, do not want ObamaCare forced upon us. If you feel as myself and so many others do, stand up, take action.
In 1798, Thomas Jefferson wrote "whensoever the general government assumes undelegated powers ... a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy."
Likewise, James Madison said that states were "duty bound to resist" every time the federal government violated the Constitution. If you want liberty legislation and other good bills to pass, you are going to have to speak up for it.
The Senator responds: "Thank you for contacting me regarding SB 230. I have read your message carefully and felt it important to respond. You make good and valid points on this issue, and I enjoyed reading your letter.
"I must tell you that I agree with your comments, and intend to support SB230 should it come to a vote before me and the full Senate. I care and want to do all I can."
