Mary K. Archer

Mary K. Archer, 84, formerly of Greencastle and recently of Lebanon, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013.

She was born on Feb. 18, 1928 in Kansas City, Mo., to William M. Smith and Ruth Lighter Smith.

Mary married Joseph Archer on Jan. 14, 1952, and he preceded her in death in 1983.

Her parents and an aunt, Enola Lighter, also preceded her in death.

She was a longtime member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild of St. Paul the Apostle, and had been active in Cub Scouts.

She is survived by her five daughters, Teresa Rohl and husband Bill of Lizton, Barbara McClain and husband Tim of St. Pete Beach, Fla., Susan Parker and husband Greg of Greencastle, DeeDee Browne and husband Bill of Carmel, and Patricia Monnett of Lebanon; four sons, Phillip Archer and wife Connie of Greencastle, Mark Archer and wife Sue of Greencastle, Edward Archer of Indianapolis and John Archer and wife Margie of Avon; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 202 E. Washington St., Greencastle, with Father Harold Rightor officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Feb. 13 from 4-7 p.m. at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle.
