Cloverdale boys lose at Greenwood

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

The Cloverdale boys' basketball team fell to 5-14 for the season with a loss at Greenwood Christian on Tuesday, 54-45.

The Clovers have one more game, Friday against Eminence, to sure up their defense before sectional play begins in two weeks.

"We've got to work on our defense," Cloverdale coach Pat Rady said. "Defense has to be the biggest part of our practice the next two nights."

Junior Brandon Dorman came off the bench to lead the Clovers in scoring with nine points on 4-of-6 shooting.

The Clovers trailed by just three, 25-22, at halftime, but came out slow for the third quarter and gave up a 15-2 rally to the Cougars.

"We challenged them after that third quarter," Rady said. "We ended up on a positive note. We're going to keep working."

Cloverdale scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to close the gap to just nine.

The Clovers had just 10 rebounds in the game, partly because starting forward Zach Dorman spent most of the night in foul trouble.

Junior Kade Schroer and senior Brody Pfaff each had eight points for the visitors.

The Cougars had a 27-6 advantage in free throw attempts for the game, sinking 20 to the Clovers three.

Cloverdale hosts Eminence on Friday at 7:30 p.m. on senior night and will also honor the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame induction for the late Chad Tucker.
