Chad E. Gehle, 27, of Brazil, died following a tragic automobile accident Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 in Muncie.

He was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis where he later died. His brother was also in the accident and is currently in the hospital in Muncie.

Chad was born Feb. 15, 1985 in Clay County, the son of Victor Gehle and Duquata "Dee" Lints.

He attended Northview High School and later obtained his GED. He worked first for Hoosier Hand-Pac in Terre Haute and then for Cook Lumber in Reelsville. He was currently employed with Kamps Pallett Co. as a supervisor at the Putnamville Correctional Facility.

Since he was a young boy, he developed the idea for a board game he called "Legends." He has played Legends with a core group of friends every Friday night for at least the past 10 years. The game has evolved and been perfected over the years and it is a unique part of Chad's life.

Several years ago, Chad became a part of Christ Community Church. He has helped with youth programs, driven the church bus to transport those in need and has worked on outreach ministry with Jenni Ooley.

He took pride in being a Christian and wanted to help anyone in need. He challenged himself to be the hands and feet of Jesus her in our community.

He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Gehle; grandfather Edward Lints, and uncles, Bob Headley and Allen Lints.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Duquata "Dee" Rankin and Samuel Rankin of Brazil; grandmother, Elizabeth Lints; brothers and sisters, Shawn Marcum (Angie) of Gosport, Billy Gehle of New Castle, Nicki Sickles (Kenneth) of Terre Haute, Carla Jarrett (Billroy) of Indianapolis, and Amanda Blakely (Chris) of Indianapolis; aunts Bernice Headley, Brenda Byers and Joyce Thompson; uncle Calvin Lints; "Legend" friends, Kyle, David, Jason S., Jason G., Dustin, Steve, Sarah, Kenny, Corey, Catlin and a host of other friends. Chad was an awesome uncle to Brittany, Jade, Becky, Rachel, Ana, Katie, Allison, Billy, Brooke, Travis, Taylor, Lexi, Leah and Mia.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Community Church with Pastor Rich Laskowski officiating. Burial will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Christ Community Church.
