PCPL program to feature new Putnam photo history book

The Putnam County Public Library will host an upcoming reception, talk by contributors and photo exhibition for the recently released book "Putnam County Indiana Looking Back: A Photographic History from the 1800s-1939."

The program is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 20, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Kiwanis Room at PCPL. The library is located at 103 E. Poplar St., Greencastle.

Speakers will include Banner Graphic representatives Merlin Maltsberger, advertising manager, Eric Bernsee editor, and Jared Jernagan, assistant editor; Putnam County Museum Executive Director Tanis Monday and Tony Barger, the new PCPL local history and genealogy librarian.

The photo exhibition will feature a selection of copies of the Putnam County historic photographs that appear in the new book.

The book explores the history of the county through pictorials and short accounts of subjects such as transportation, commerce, agriculture, street scenes, public service and disasters, among others.

Books will be available for purchase at the library event.
