County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 4:23 p.m. on Wednesday, Jessica Lynn Wood, 27, Greencastle, was arrested for probation violation.

* At 11:40 a.m. on Thursday, Harley Davidson Tinsley, 41, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for nonsupport of a dependent.

At 11:45 a.m. Chanord Sago, 35, Indianapolis, was charged with operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction and probation violation.

At 10:22 p.m. Michael Thomas Mance II, 34, Cloverdale, was booked in for driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

* At 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Samantha Jo Monnett, 26, Cloverdale, was arrested for domestic battery.

City Police

Two recent property-damage accidents were investigated by city officers.

-- 3:18 p.m. Thursday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported at Washington and Wood streets.

Robert Warmoth, 83, Poland, was eastbound on Washington Street, driving a 1997 Buick LaSabre, when a 1990 GMC Suburban, driven by Christian Schlatter, 20, Greencastle, failed to yield the right of way, Capt. Mike Hanlon reported, and turned left in front of the Warmoth car.

Total damage in the accident was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

-- At 6:50 p.m. Feb. 9, a three-vehicle accident occurred at Veterans Highway and Bloomington Street.

Officer Ed Wilson reported that the brakes failed on a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker, driven by Joyce Harvey, 53, Spencer, causing it to run into the rear of a stopped 1986 Buick Regal, driven by Timothy Duggan, 46, Greencastle, and pushing it into the rear of a stationary 2013 Volkswagen Passat, driven by Rolland Vickrey Jr., 44, Greencastle.

Total damage in the accident was listed at $5,000-$10,000.

Two recent traffic citations were issued by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 4:30 a.m. Friday, Stephen H. Fox, 54, Greencastle, was ticketed on South Jackson by Sgt. Chris Jones for an expired license plate (Texas, April 2011). The vehicle was towed and impounded until the plates can be made current.

-- At 11:35 p.m. Thursday, Ronald Willyard II, 23, Brazil, was cited on Bloomington Street by Officer Wilson for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff's Department

* At 7:22 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, Cara M. Smith, 22, Indianapolis, was eastbound on County Road 525 North in a 2011 Nissan.

She attempted to slow her vehicle down while approaching a 90-degree turn but the vehicle began to slide on the ice-covered roadway.

The car left the road and hit a large rock 15 feet off the road.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 7:31 a.m. on Wednesday, Mark A. Foxx, 41, Reelsville, was southbound on County Road 550 West in a 1996 Ford F150. He apparently fell asleep and ran off the east side of the road, hitting a Parke County REMC pole.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

City Fire

* At 5:05 p.m. Wednesday the Greencastle Fire Department responded to an arcing transformer at 306 N. Jackson St. They cleared the scene at 6:01 p.m.

* At 4:54 p.m. Thursday firefighters investigated an alarm at 304 S. Indiana St. They discovered it was due to cooking and returned to station at 5:02 p.m.

* At 9:19 p.m. Thursday crews performed a lift assist at 1038 Castlebury Dr., returning to station at 10:10 p.m.
