Alva 'Ray' Brattain Jr.

Alva "Ray" Brattain Jr., 77, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013.

He was born Jan. 27, 1936 in Carbon, the son of Alva Ray and Dorothy Mae (Harney) Brattain. He was a 1954 graduate of Greencastle High School.

He married Darlene (Cash) Brattain on Oct. 6, 1957, and she survives.

Ray worked at IBM for 32 years, retiring in 1987. He had served in the National Guard for six years.

Survivors include his wife Darlene; daughters Teresa Jackson and fiancé Keith Pingleton, Lori Rowings and Tina Jackson and fiancé Matt Sillery, all of Greencastle; 10 grandchildren, Mandy Richardville and fiancé Erich Nelson, Randy Jackson, Nathan (Erin) Rowings, Lisa (Chad) Oliver, Lindsey (Anthony) Fenwick, Danielle (Mike) Dobson, Samantha (Levi) Jones, Kylie Rowings, Ethan Sillery and Brody Jackson; 10 great-grandchildren; his mother; and a sister.

He was preceded in death by his father and a great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 2 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor John Nees officiating. Interment will follow at Clinton Falls Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
