Putnamville troopers slate sobriety checkpoint in Vigo County March 8

Wednesday, March 6, 2013

PUTNAMVILLE -- The Putnamville District of the Indiana State Police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Vigo County during the late evening hours of Friday, March 8.

The checkpoint is in conjunction with the Operation Pull Over "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over."

Drivers who encounter a checkpoint will be required to produce a valid driver's license and registration. Motorists who are not impaired can expect short delays of 2-3 minutes while passing through the checkpoint.

Motorists are strongly encouraged to adhere to two basic principles when consuming alcohol: Do not drink and drive and always use a designated driver. Following those basic principles could save your life or the life of someone else, authorities suggest

Anyone who encounters a suspected impaired driver should dial 911 and be prepared to give a description of the vehicle, location and direction of travel.

The Putnamville District will continue to conduct saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints throughout the year to apprehend impaired drivers and deter others from drinking and driving.
