County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

At 2:30 p.m. William Troy Clark, 44, Avon, was housed at the jail on two counts of nonsupport of a dependent.

At 10:35 p.m. Levi Irvin Birt, 23, Grand Junction, Colo., was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a handgun without a permit.

* At 10:50 a.m. Thursday, Johannah Marie Kellie, 21, Roachdale, was held at the jail for motor vehicle theft, failure to comply and failure to appear.

At 1:40 p.m. Donald Joseph Cornthwait, 30, Sarasota, Fla., was booked in for nonsupport of a dependent.

At 10:42 p.m. Bryan Lee Polster, 37, Cloverdale, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and resisting law enforcement.

* At 4 a.m. Friday, Eric Scott Webster, 42, Columbus, Ohio, was housed at the jail for possession of marijuana, sale of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

At 4:15 a.m. Christopher Michael Mayse, 37, Westerville, Ohio, was charged with possession of marijuana, sale of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Sheriff's Department

Capt. Danny Wallace worked three property damage accidents on Wednesday involving cars sliding off the highway or wheels getting off the edge of the road.

* At 9:07 a.m. Serena G. Hiller, 41, Greencastle, was eastbound on State Road 240 in a 2005 Hummer H2 when she lost control on snow and ice.

She slid off the road and hit a fence on the south side of the road.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 10:07 a.m. Tina M. Grzesiek, 52, Greencastle, was eastbound on State Road 240 in a 2004 Chrysler Sebring when she lost control on the slick road.

The car spun 360 degrees as it slid across the northbound lane, coming to rest on the north side of the road.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 4:35 p.m. Larry D. Parker, 64, Bainbridge, was westbound on U.S. 36 in a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis when a tire got off the roadway.

Parker lost control of the car and it hit a guardrail.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

At 7:43 p.m. on Thursday, the Greencastle Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at 3509 E. CR 275 South.

The vehicle had struck a utility pole and live wires were down. The occupants of the vehicle had already left the scene when responders arrive.

GFD remained on the scene until the arrival of Hendricks Power Cooperative responders, at which time the scene was turned over to the Fillmore Fire Department.

Crews returned to station at 8:16 p.m.
