Cloverdale man, 21, charged with child molesting

CLOVERDALE -- A 21-year-old Cloverdale man was arrested Saturday morning on allegations of child molesting.

Richard W. Stewart faces three counts of Class A felony child molesting. He has been held at the Putnam County Jail with no bond.

The Putnam County Department of Child Services contacted the Putnamville State Police Post on Friday concerning the allegations.

ISP detectives immediately began an investigation that led to the arrest of the suspect early Saturday morning.

During the investigation, state police detectives were able to determine that over the last approximately six months at a residence in rural Putnam County, Stuart is alleged to have engaged in various sex acts with a five year-old female acquaintance.

The case was investigated by ISP Detectives 1st Sgt. Jeff Hearon and Detective John Goldner, ISP Crime Scene Investigator Sgt. Jim Cody and the Putnam County Department of Child Services.
