Clara M. Pierce, 83, formerly of Terre Haute and Clay City, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at her daughter's home in Reelsville.

She was born in Paris, Ill., on May 1, 1929 to Jasper and Mable (Kline) Spaulding.

She was a 50-year member of the 12 Points OES Chapter 528, a member of Nine Mile United Methodist Church at Linton, and also belonged to the VFW 6606 Auxiliary in Clay City and was past District 7 President of VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Clara was a lifelong homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Pierce, in 2004.

Her survivors are one daughter, Paula Mikles and her husband Alfred of Reelsville; two sons, Michael Pierce and his wife Jeanne of Florida, and John Pierce of Clay City; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16 in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, Terre Haute, with Bro. Steve Wiley officiating. A VFW Auxiliary Memorial Service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Visitation hours will be 4-8 p.m. Friday with an OES memorial at 7 p.m.

Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
