IHSAA boys' basketball state finals this weekend at Bankers Life Fieldhouse

Putnam County teams were shutout from deep postseason runs, but plenty of excitement remains as the Indiana High School Athletic Association boys' basketball state finals are coming up this weekend.

Four games in two sessions are scheduled for Saturday and all will take place at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Tickets are $15 for each session.

Session I includes the Class A and 2A finals, games between Triton (20-5) and Borden (23-3) followed by Bowman Academy (17-9) and Linton-Stockton (24-3), respectively.

The Class A game tips off at 10:30 a.m., and 2A will begin at about 12:45 p.m.

Session II includes the Class 3A and 4A finals, games between Fort Wayne Concordia (23-4) and Greensburg (25-1) in 3A and Carmel (24-2) and Indianapolis Cathedral (25-5) in 4A.

The Class 3A game tips at 6 p.m., and the 4A game follows at about 8:15 p.m.

The No. 10 Triton Trojans are seeking their second Class A state championship and are making their fourth appearance in the boys' basketball state finals. Triton ranks eighth in the state in scoring defense (42.8 points per game).

The No. 10 Borden Braves are making their first state finals appearance in any sport. They are 11-0 against teams that finished their season with an above-.500 record.

The No. 7 Bowman Academy Eagles have won one previous state championship (2010, Class A). They rank 12th in the state in scoring offense (72.6 points per game).

The No. 10 Linton-Stockton Miners are playing in their first boys' basketball state finals. The Miners have the 21st best scoring differential in the state (15.3 points per game) and won their first sectional championship since 1982.

Ranked No. 7, the Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran Cadets are making their first boys' basketball state finals appearance. Its only losses this season have come against Class 4A opponents.

The No. 2 Greensburg Pirates are making their first appearance in the state finals since 1931. The Pirates have the top scoring differential in the state, winning by an average of 25.3 points per game.

The No. 1 Carmel Greyhounds are defending state champions. The Greyhounds are facing Cathedral for the second time this season. Carmel won the previous meeting at home on Jan. 9, 60-54.

The No. 7 Indianapolis Cathedral Fighting Irish are making their first state finals appearance since 1998, when the team won the first ever 3A championship. The Irish carry a 19-game winning streak that dates back to Jan. 12.
