RUSSELLVILLE -- The Russellville Community Church is pleased to announce the schedule of special services for Holy Week.

Each year, the church holds special worship services each night of Holy Week. The theme of this year's Lenten Series has been "The Journey to the Cross."

During Holy Week, that journey will include guest preachers and musicians, as well as the traditional tenebrae service on Good Friday and a Passover Seder meal on Maundy Thursday.

On Palm Sunday evening at 6 p.m., Rev. Mark Miller from the Greencastle Christian Church will be the guest preacher, with his wife Lori bringing the special music.

Monday through Wednesday services begin at 7 p.m. and will feature Rev. Mick Buchanan from Roachdale Christian Church and Kelly Thomas on Monday; Rev. Alan Small and Chris Walters on Tuesday; and Rev. Don Perry from Marshall Federated Church and Connie Porter on Wednesday.

There will be a communion service at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday following the Seder Meal.

The Good Friday service will be held at 7 p.m., featuring scripture readings of the Passion from the Gospel of John, special music by Becky Butler, liturgical dance by Cheyanne Elliott and the extinguishing of candles until the sanctuary is left in darkness.

There are no special services on Saturday, but the church sponsors the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Community Center. There is a bake sale at noon and the hunt begins at 1 p.m.

Easter services will begin with a sunrise service at 8 a.m. in the narthex, followed by a special breakfast in fellowship hall. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:30 a.m., and the main worship service at 10:30 a.m.
