Boston Bowl strikes blow for Humane Society

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

To the Editor:

Thanks to all of those who helped make the inaugural "Boston Bowl" benefiting the Putnam County Humane Society such a success.

It was a joy to meet the gracious Coopers, Charlie and Karen, what a great inspiration they continue to be. Their endowment "New Beginnings for Homeless Pets" will help support the Humane Society of Putnam County.

I have been extremely encouraged by the tremendous response and we have had so many ask us about donating sites and donation information; those interested may contact the Thrift Store or make donations in person on North Jackson Street, the telephone number is 653-7174 and the e-mail address is shpcanimals@yahoo.com.

The Putnam County Community Foundation can be reached at 653-4978 or www.pcfoundation.org.

Many thanks to Elaine Peck of the PCCF, Lynn Bohmer and Monica Sargent of Humane Society of Putnam County, Gary and Valerie Waters of A 'n J Bowling, and Michelle Beaman and Devon Scobee of Round Barn Manor Apartments.

Also sincere thanks to the Banner Graphic and Eric Bernsee, and John Fischer of WREB for helping us get the word out.

It is our fervent hope that there will be an announcement made soon that the Humane Society of Putnam County has been restored and that this county can and will sustain, maintain and retain the facility for all the needy animals in Putnam County.

With every good wish!

Cammie Goldman
