County Jail

Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Wednesday morning.

* At 1:30 a.m. Andrew William Harmless, 30, Greencastle, was arrested for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

* At 2:32 a.m. Agate Albert Barnett, 47, Indianapolis, was charged with receiving stolen property and probation violation.

City Police

One warrant arrest was reported Wednesday afternoon by Greencastle City Police.

Michelle Ann Capps, 29, Greencastle, was arrested at a Woodhaven Drive home on a Putnam County warrant for violation of probation on an original charge of theft.

Officer Darrel Bunten made the 2:11 p.m. arrest, lodging Capps in the Putnam

County Jail.

Meanwhile, a minor mishap resulted in some major property damage in an accident reported at 2:29 p.m. Tuesday by City Police.

Sgt. Terry Eastham reported that David L. White, 73, Greencastle, was eastbound on Columbia Street, nearing North Vine Street, when his 2013 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck veered right and struck a parked 1996 Jeep Cherokee, owned by James Ensley, Greencastle.

Total damage in the accident was estimated at $10,000-$25,000.

White told Sgt. Eastham had had just gotten the vehicle and was not yet used to the way it handles.

Four recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

-- Sometime before 6 a.m. Wednesday, Ruiwen Huang, 20, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for 53 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.

-- At 11:08 p.m. Tuesday, Dennis Brinkerhoff, 56, Ladoga, was cited on North Jackson Street by Sgt. Charles Inman for having an expired license plate (August).

-- At 11:25 a.m. Saturday, Tamara Allen, 39, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Bunten for 48 mph in a 30-mph zone at West Walnut and Gillespie streets.

-- At 9:51 p.m. Friday, Christopher Haas, 24, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Eric Vaughan for 65 mph in a 40-mph zone on Veterans Memorial Highway.

Sheriff's Department

At 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Tony Keith, 53, Greencastle, was southbound on County Road 300 West, just north of County Road 550 South, in a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado when he hit a deer.

Deputy Ronnie Campbell estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has responded to a number of recent dispatches.

* At 5:19 p.m. Friday, GFD investigated an alarm at 330 Greenwood Ave. The problem was due to cooking. Crews cleared the scene at 5:34 p.m.

* At 2:48 p.m. Saturday, firefighters were called to a motor vehicle accident at 821 Indianapolis Rd. There were no fluids on the road and no injuries, and personnel were cleared at 2:54 p.m.

At 2:54 p.m. fire personnel provided medical assistance at 1145 W. CR 75 North, clearing the scene at 3:12 p.m.

At 5:13 p.m. GFD was dispatched to a dumpster fire at 127 N. Jackson St. The fire was extinguished, the cause unknown. Responders cleared the scene at 5:28 p.m.

* At 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, crews responded to a shed fire at 1543 W. CR 200 North. The small structure was mostly gone upon firefighters' arrival. They returned to station at 2:03 p.m.

At 8:14 p.m. firefighters were called to a motor vehicle accident on Manhattan Road north of Mt. Olive Road. They were disregarded en route at 8:24 p.m.

* At 5:49 a.m. Monday, personnel investigated an alarm due to cooking at 330 Greenwood Ave. They cleared the scene at 6:07 a.m.

* At 1:46 a.m. Tuesday, firefighters performed a medical assist at 79 Queenswood Ct. They returned to station at 2:41 p.m.
