Great hospital adventure

Saturday, March 30, 2013
Taking advantage of an otherwise dreary spring break day, two dozen local youngsters take part in the inaugural Great Hospital Adventure at Putnam County Hospital Thursday afternoon. With help from the dietary department, youngsters like (above from left) Noel and Nevaya Dickinson learn to make their own healthy snacks, while Keira Lucas has a little fun with her apple, peanut butter and raisins creation. Meanwhile, Tommy Gilliam gets all wrapped up in the program as Janet Rose, outreach coordinator for the West-Central Indiana Area Health Education Center (AHEC) instructs the group in proper bandaging efforts. PCH and AHEC sponsored the program for students in kindergarten through third grade to learn about health career professions and healthy habits such as good nutrition and safety measures. The effort is designed to reinforce the AHEC "Grow Your Own" motto, which promotes health career professions in medically underserved/health profession shortage areas.
