Wine tasting, silent auction to help save Civil War memorial

A charity wine tasting and silent auction event is being organized to raise funds for the stabilization and restoration of the historic Civil War Soldier's Monument at Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.

The Friday, April 19 fundraiser will begin at 6 p.m. at Greencastle VFW Post 1550, located at 819 S. Jackson St.

Admission is a $25 donation per person.

All supporters age 21 and over are invited to attend. The event will be held in a non-smoking environment.

Guests will enjoy the chance to try multiple varieties of wine from wineries from around the world along with a chance to learn interesting and informative details about the wines from a professional wine consultant.

The wine-tasting experience will be enhanced by a wide selection of cheeses and crackers as well as a variety of chocolate and meal samplers.

The silent auction will include multiple items and deals generously donated by local businesses.

Guests will also have the chance to make additional donations for supporter T-shirts and bumper stickers.
