Hobart 'Jack' Trotter

Hobart "Jack" Trotter, 87, of Rockville, died at 3:14 pm Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in Hendricks Regional Health, Danville, Ind.

He was a retired engineer with Indiana Bell Telephone Co. in Indianapolis with 36 years of service.

Following retirement he worked eight years for Professional Mortuary Service in Indianapolis.

He was born March 28, 1926 in Beech Grove to the late Hobart M. Trotter and Opal M. Farrow Trotter.

A 1944 graduate of Broad Ripple High School, he was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church in Morton, Telephone Pioneers of America and American Legion Fellenzer Post 48 at Rockville.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Shirley Lytle Trotter, whom he married Dec. 5, 1981 in Indianapolis.

Also surviving are a son, David A. (Susan) Trotter of Indianapolis; a daughter, Kathy A. Kline of Nashville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Mindy (Chuck) Walters, Rob (Marti) Beeler, Christi Gaskins, Pat Gaskins, Aaron (Jennifer) Gaskins, Rachel Trotter and Macy Trotter; brother-in-law Charles (Kerry) Lytle of Omaha, Neb.; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline "Jackie" Spears, and son-in-law Gary Kline.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 8 in Gooch Funeral Home at 112 W. Howard St., Rockville, with Rev. John O'Neal and Melinda Huffman officiating.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery at North Salem.

Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Gooch Funeral Home.
